Student Support Program: Because Zimbabwe has 85% unemployment and 1200% inflation; student dropout rate’s are extremely high. Students dropout not because they choose to but because economically they are forced out. HRC Ministries cares about youth and offers school support for Grades 1-12. HRC Ministries provides books, school uniforms, pays all school fees and in some cases provides food and shelter.

The HRC Student Support Program exists to keep orphans in school. There are 2 million orphans in Zimbabwe. Although we were not called to Zim to run an orphanage we have seen the Lord bring orphans into our lives and meet their needs by helping them stay in school and in some cases provide housing and food.

Jill Johnson came on a trip and picked up 2 students.

At this time it takes approximately $360. a year or 30 dollars a month per student to provide the necessary funds to pay school fees. However, if you want to help but your finances are not to where you can afford 30 a month you can be 1 of 2 sponsoring the same child at 15.dollars a month. If you are interested in supporting a child in this program, the Begarly's will provide a students name and photo and background. Each student will send a personal letter of thanks to his or her sponsor. We have 45 orphans on the SS Program at this time.

The first qualification for perspective students for Student Support is to have lost one or both parents. Investigations of each student are carried out by Mr. Mayoyo our programs director and his assistant Hazel Finch, to discover if the student has a genuine need. After being accepted on the program each student is expected to keep a B average. Students are required to be an example of good Christian Character. Students are required to attend the CYC Programs on Saturdays and church on Sundays . Attendance requirements are strictly monitored for both CYC and Church. We deal directly with the schools in paying the fees required. No money is given directly to the students or their family.

The students are required to be accountable for the items purchased by the program, such as, clothing, books, and school supplies. Books and equipment provided by the program remain the property of the program and students are required to return them to us upon graduation.
We have now had eight students complete and graduate on the SSP. We have seen the Lord bring these students into our lives and seen the changes brought about in their lives from the Lords influence through the HRC Ministries. Thank you to all who help in sponsoring these students on the HRC Student Support Program. The need is growing every day and you can make the world an open book instead of a closed door by your prayers and financial gift to one student in need. Make a step of faith and see what the Lord will do through you.

Joan Hart from Greenwood, IN came to Zim. and had a birthday party with
Angeline and Marvelous. She has supported these girls for years. What a
wonderful experience for all of them.

For those who come through the Student Support Program we now have a "University/College" Fund to help those who can go on to further their education beyond high school. This fund provide funds for a bursary. This is the term used for what we know in the States as a student loan. This bursary is interest free and with inflation the amount used for their schooling is paid back easily when they finish their schooling. We have seen our students given positions for their on job training with companies who have given them paid positions. This is by the Lords had considering the unemployment in Zim.

Henry Finch and Zondai Mangayi are both at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare in engineering. Kenneth Liwala is at the Chinhoyi University in engineering. Simba Nzozi is at the School of Agriculture to be a commercial farmer. Shame Sithole is at the Bible college in Harare to be a preacher. Each of these students share with the younger ones on the program to do their best and tell how they have experienced the Lords hand helping them in their lives.

Students meet twice a term at the Begarly's home.

We also have a "Life Skills" Fund to provide vocational training for those who cannot go on to University or College. We have one student using this fund right now. Angeline is taking a sewing course and training. She will have her own sewing business and we the Student Support Program will keep her in business. We have to buy uniforms for each student on the program. Angeline will be able to make the uniforms for the program. This will save the program money.
THANK YOU to all who help...
