Hunnington
Retreat Center began by an invitation to the Begarly’s to
come to Zimbabwe and start a Christian Camp. The Begarly’s
entered Zimbabwe in August of 1996 and began construction that
December. Because Zimbabwe has such a high youth population, it
wasn’t hard to see that a youth ministry in camp ministry
was ready for the planting.
HRC is the center of all the Begarly’s ministry. Every ministry
is to focus on the youth and eventually lead youth to the Camp.
To reach youth one has to develop an environment that touches the
lives
of youth. This of course is done through the camp environment.
This environment is to touch the mind, spirit, soul and body of youth.
This is done through the teaching of the scriptures, preaching
of
God’s Word and through sport and social interaction on different
levels that meet the needs of youth.
HRC is a Non Denominational
Camp. In other words it clams no other name but Christian
and all who confess Jesus as Lord and want
to be taught of him or lead others to Him are welcome to
rent the facility. It has no political affiliation and is nondiscriminatory.
But all that come to the camp will be expected to follow
the
rules
of the camp. This year approximately 2000 campers used the
camp sight and expectations are to increase this number in
the year 2007.
The camp facilities at the present have dormitories for boys
and girls with showers, toilets and bedding for 100 campers.
HRC sets on approximately 12 acres and
is secured by an electric fence.
The dormitories of boys and girls are separated
by a meeting hall in-between.
There is also a kitchen
and dinning area for 100 campers
For sport activities there is a Football
Field, Basketball Courts, Volleyball Courts, Netball
Courts, Climbing Tower with Zip Line and Giant Swing.

There is also an Obstacle Course that has five main obstacles and other team
challenges. For Spiritual Enrichment there is a Camp Fire for evening Worship.

One 5000 and a 3000-liter water storage tanks to supply water for the camp.
These tanks are feed by a well that is one mile away. There are two rondovals used as guest Housing for visitors
and Camp Deans and overflow building used for staff housing.
There are 18 marriage retreat chalets now under construction
with 11 completed. These chalets will serve as housing for
marriage retreats as well as housing for youth camps when
marriage retreats are not taking place. With the Marriage
chalets and dormitories we will have 142 beds for campers.
