The Begarly’s ministry is not about numbers
it is about individuals whom God has granted the capacity to know
and serve Christ. Each person that God has granted life he has
also empowered and granted the wonderful privilege of ministry.
Mark and Helen Begarly have taken up the call of missions in the
spiritually and economically depressed country of Zimbabwe Africa.
With God in their hearts and the powerful call of ministry upon
their lives the Begarly’s have forged a ministry that calls
the nationals of Zimbabwe to pick up the Great Commission
and minister to their own people.
The Begarly’s primary objective is to Train
and Release nationals for ministry within all the ministries of their mission
in Zimbabwe. With a population of 12 to 13 million people, half
of that number are 18 years old and under and 45% are 15 years
old and under. With these figures the call to ministry and youth
ministry in particular is clear. Taking up God’s call and
challenge, the Begarly’s entered Zimbabwe in August of 1996
and began constructing Hunnington
Retreat Center (Christian
Youth Camp). Future Construction Projects.
In 1997 the Begarly’s began teaching Morals
and Ethics in
a farm school and from this developed the HRC Morals and Ethics
Scholarship Program. At the heart of this program is the aim to
help students grasp the Christian morals and ethics of the Scriptures
and continue on with their High School Education. Many students
do very well in the primary education but lack the funds to carry
on into their High School Education. With unemployment at around
70% the drop of student enrollment is at an alarming percentage.
Seeing this the Begarly’s started the HRC
Student Support Program in 1999. This program helps keep students in school
who have lost all hope of gaining a High School education.

Hope is not found in educational
opportunities alone but in spiritual and social development
opportunities as well. In the small town of Chinhoyi, the Begarly’s
saw the lack of social and spiritual development within the
youth culture and began what is called the CYC
Program or Chinhoyi
Youth Club. CYC seeks to develop youth in discipleship, Social
interaction, Spiritual growth and evangelistic outreach.
Developing programs without community involvement
is a shortsighted ministry. Because the heart of the community
is the Church. Preaching
of the Gospel is of the greatest importance.
It is here that the Begarly’s minister not only to the
youth but are able to interact with the adults in five congregations
around the community and understand the concerns of the parents
about their youth.
In the past missions has focused primarily
on overseas ministry development. Due to the nature of the HRC
mission approach, ministry stateside must now play an equal
role in the overseas mission out reach. Michael and Heather Boschert are the Minister of Outreach and Development creating a vital
link between the supporting churches in the USA and the work
in Zimbabwe.
